Maple, Rowan and Chestnut (Year 5/6)

Rowan Class

Chestnut Class !

Maple Class

Dear Year 5 and 6,

Hooray! We are delighted that we will all be back in school together from Monday 8th March. We very much look forward to seeing you all. Remember to bring your work into school, especially your Mexican Myth Writing as we will continue with this this week!

Parents, please do make sure you read emails sent by Parent Mail as they include important information about our return.

We hope you enjoyed 'World Book Day' on Friday. The story videos will remain on the website for this half term. Please see the drop down menu 'Children' on top right of this page and go to 'World Book Day' to view them.

Our topic this half term is 'Hola Mexico'. We are learning about the geography of Mexico, creating maps, learning about the ancient civilisations of the Aztecs and Mayans as well as writing myths and newspaper reports. There will be lots of creative activities too; learning how to draw Cala lilies, making masks and creating stop motion movies.

If you've not seen it already, remember to check out our wonderful gallery of art and poetry for Arts Week. You will find this in the 'Children' drop down menu at the top of this page under 'Gallery'.

Here are a few reminders for you and your parents as we return to school:-

  • Learning begins at 8.30 am for year 5 and 6. Please arrive on time, as you will be missing key learning opportunities if you are arriving at 8.45am.
  • We return in school uniform.
  • The windows are open in school so the classrooms can be very cold so make sure you bring your cardigans and jumpers. Also remember that we will be outside for breaks in all weathers so it is essential to bring a coat!
  • Please only bring your lunch, water bottle and refills for you pencil cases. No large bags or rucksacks!
  • P.E. kit to be worn on P.E. days. For the remainder of this half term, Maple and Rowan's P.E. day is Thursday, Chestnut on Friday.
  • Remember, if your child has symptoms of Covid-19, please stay at home and inform the school office.
  • Please follow the school guidelines to keep everyone safe in school.

We are always here to support our families so if you are in need in any way, please do get in touch, either by phoning or emailing the school office or via our Year 5/6 email address.

With all our love and prayers,

Mrs Courquin, Mrs Purcell, Mr Barnden & Mr Flaxbeard

Mrs Randall, Mrs Dembinski, Mr Al-Bazoon and Mr Orrell
