School Open Days
We run regular tours of the school with opportunities to meet staff and pupils during the school week. Please contact the school office and speak to Mrs Farrands to arrange a tour or email her to office@strichardsprimary.co.uk
Welcome to our admissions page, if you have never applied for a school place, before the process can seem baffling but we are here to help you to make decisions, answer your questions and complete applications.
It is important when thinking about which school to choose to not be too influenced by what others are doing. Do your own investigations, ask your own questions and make the decision for you and your family.
St Richard's is a Catholic school and Catholic teaching underpins day to day life within school but we are fully inclusive and welcome children and families from other faiths and denominations of the church. As a Catholic school we are responsible for our own admissions according to our admissions policy (see below) and work alongside West Sussex County Council to fill school places.
To apply for a place at St Richard's to start in Reception in September 2025 we ask that you complete a supplementary application form (see below) and return this to the school by Friday 15th January 2025. If you are a Catholic family and your child is baptised please provide a copy of their baptism certificate and let us know on the form where and when they were baptised.
If your child already has a sibling at our school please ensure their name is on the form where this is asked for.
If you are a member of another Christian denomination or faith please provide a letter signed by the minister or faith leader to confirm church membership and attendance.
Once the closing date has passed our Governing body reviews all applications and applies the selection criteria and places are offered accordingly.
If you have any questions about the application process please call the school office on 01243 784549 or email office@strichardsprimary.co.uk.
TO APPLY FOR A PLACE AT ST RICHARD'S SCHOOL IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU COMPLETE AND RETURN OUR SCHOOL APPLICATION FORM (FOUND BELOW) AS WELL AS THE WEST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL ONLINE SUBMISSION.
If you would like any help with the admissions process please contact our admissions officer Mrs Farrands on 01243 784549 or email office@strichardsprimary.co.uk.
Our Admissions Policy outlines the procedure for Admission to St Richard's Catholic Primary School.
As a Catholic School we have our own Supplementary Application form which parents should complete and return to the school office along with copies of Baptismal Certificates and proof of address.
This is in addition to completing the West Sussex County Council's Admission Application Form which all parents requesting a place at a West Sussex School must complete.
For all In-Year Admissions please contact the school office on 01243 784549.
If your child is not offered a place at St Richard’s Catholic Primary School, Chichester you have the right to appeal against that decision to an Independent Appeal Panel (set up in accordance with sections 88 and 94 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998).
Appeals must be made in writing and must set out the reasons on which the appeal is made. Appeals should be made to the Admissions Appeal Clerk at the school address. Appeals should be lodged no later than 20 school days after the National Offer Day for primary schools.
Completed paperwork must be received by the school and will be heard within 40 school days. The appeals system is operated independently from the school. Parents/carers have the right to make oral representations to the Appeal Panel.
Late application appeals will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
