YOUNG INTERPRETERS
At St Richard's we have a total of 28 different languages spoken by our pupils and we have a team of Young Enterpreters whose role is assisting to welcome new children to the school and be buddies on the playground for EAL children.
The following children in Years 1-4 are our Young Enterpreters:
Willow - Alba and Anthony
Sycamore - Ifechukwa and Matilda
Oak - Aliyah and David
Elm - Filip and Kaya
Silver Birch - Yasmin and Isabella
Beech – Amelia, Telma and Hailey
In 5/6 the following children will be receiving Young Interpreters training for 6 weeks. They will be responsible for all of the above plus they will act as guides for visitors and produce information to support EAL learners. What a wonderful way to represent our school!
Rowan - Bartek, Riley, Emilio and Anishka
Maple - Daniel, Axel, Faye and Grace
Chestnut - Savannah, Ishka and Aryan.
The languages spoken by the above children include: Spanish, French, Malayam, Igbo, Italian, Polish, Tagalog/Filipino and Gujarati.
