School Uniform at St Richards

At St Richard’s Catholic Primary School, we believe that school uniform plays an important role in fostering a sense of belonging, pride and community. Our uniform reflects our Catholic values and helps create a positive environment where children can focus on their learning.

We are committed to ensuring that our uniform is practical, affordable and inclusive. We recognise the importance of keeping costs reasonable for families whilst maintaining high standards and a smart appearance.

Many unbranded items, including shirts, trousers, skirts and PE kit, can be purchased from supermarkets and high street retailers. 

Second-Hand Uniform Shop (SUS)

Our popular Second-Hand Uniform Shop (SUS) provides families with affordable access to good-quality pre-loved uniform that has either been donated to the school or remains unclaimed from lost property.

The shop is open every Tuesday before and after school during term time, with private appointments available on request. 

Prices

• Uniform items are available for £1 each

• A 50% discount is available when a uniform donation is made at the time of purchase

• Children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) can access uniform free of charge by contacting the School Headteacher in confidence.

Money raised through the Second-Hand Uniform Shop helps:

• Provide Reception children with a starter book bag when they join St Richard’s

• Contribute towards the cost of Year 6 Leavers' Hoodies

This means that children benefit from the scheme at both the beginning and end of their journey at St Richard’s.

Our Uniform

Main School Uniform

• Navy blue school jumper or cardigan with school logo

• White polo shirt (logo optional)

• Dark grey trousers, skirt or pinafore dress

• Pale blue and white gingham dress or grey shorts (summer option)

• Dark grey or white socks, or navy/dark grey tights

• Black school shoes (not trainers)

PE Kit

Children should attend school in their PE kit on PE days.

PE kit consists of:

• St Richard’s blue PE t-shirt with school logo

• Navy or black shorts

• Dark-coloured trainers

• Plain black or navy jogging bottoms or leggings for colder weather

• Optional school sports fleece, navy hooded top or school jumper 

Summer Uniform

Children may wear summer uniform from the beginning of the Summer Term until October half term. 

Important Uniform Information

To help us maintain a smart appearance and ensure children's safety:

• All uniform should be clearly labelled with your child's name.

• Hair should be neat and appropriate for school. Extreme styles and dyed hair are not permitted.

• Long hair should be tied back, particularly during PE and games lessons.

• Makeup and nail varnish are not permitted.

• One pair of small stud earrings may be worn. Earrings must be taped or removed for PE.

• Necklaces, bracelets and anklets should not be worn.

• Children should wear sensible black school shoes. Open-toe shoes, heels and trainers are not permitted. 

Bags and Equipment

Children should bring:

• A named water bottle

• A suitably sized book bag or small rucksack appropriate to their year group

Reception children receive a school book bag when they join St Richard’s.
