Welcome to Reception
The Early Years (reception) at St Richard's provides a warm, safe environment for all children. It is where we lay the foundations for a lifelong love of learning. We have two parallel Reception classes, Ash and Poplar. The reception staff team work together to plan exciting and engaging activities for both classes.
The children in the Reception Classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum and work towards the Early Learning Goals in seven areas of learning:
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Communication and Language
Physical Development
The Four Specific Areas
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding of the World
Expressive Arts and Design
In the early years, giving the children the confidence and security to develop their own independence is vital if your child is to develop their true potential. At St Richard's we deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, monitoring your child's progress continuously. We challenge your children and enable them to meet their own individual targets. We believe in providing an engaging and exciting learning experience where all children are encouraged to talk, discover, create, practise, rehearse, explore, investigate and learn through their play.
If you have any concerns or queries about your reception child and have not managed to talk to the class teacher at the beginning or the end of the school day please do email the reception team:
