Sports Premium expenditure: This funding is used to make additional and substantial improvements to the quality of sport and PE we offer.

SWIMMING IN SCHOOLS

 

The National Curriculum requires that all schools provide swimming instruction. At St.Richard's all children in Years 5 and 6 receive a term of swimming teaching at the Westgate Centre.

 

As from the 2017/18 academic year, the DfE has set out a new requirement for schools to publish details of how many pupils within their year 6 cohort can do each of the following:

  • Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
  • Use a range of strokes effectively
  • Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
