Mini Vinnies

At St Richard’s Catholic Primary School, our Mini Vinnies are inspired by the example of St Vincent de Paul, whose life was dedicated to serving those most in need. As part of the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP), the Mini Vinnies encourage pupils to put their faith into action through service, compassion and care for others.

Each year, two pupils from every class are chosen to become Mini Vinnies. They are presented with a Mini Vinnies badge and take on an important role in helping to lead charitable initiatives and acts of service across the school.

Following the Mini Vinnies motto, ‘See, Think, Do’, pupils meet regularly to identify needs within our school, parish and local community, reflect on how they can help, and take positive action. Through fundraising, charitable projects and acts of service, they learn how small actions can make a big difference to the lives of others.

One of our ongoing projects is our close partnership with Chichester District Foodbank. The Mini Vinnies organise a weekly food collection to support local families experiencing hardship. The Foodbank praised the generosity of our school community, sharing that they had never collected such a large donation from a single venue. These contributions help provide essential food parcels to those in need. We are proud to continue this work through a permanent collection point located in the school reception.

Our Mini Vinnies play an important role in living out our Catholic mission, helping pupils grow as compassionate, responsible and faith-filled young people who seek to make a positive difference in the world around them.
