Primary PE and Sport Premium at St Richard's

At St Richard’s Catholic Primary School, we are passionate about the positive impact that sport and physical activity can have on children's lives. We believe that Physical Education plays a vital role in developing the whole child, supporting physical health, mental wellbeing, confidence, resilience and teamwork. Our vision is to ensure that every pupil develops the knowledge, skills and motivation to lead an active and healthy lifestyle both now and in the future.

The Primary PE and Sport Premium funding enables us to enhance the quality of physical education, school sport and physical activity across the school. We use this funding strategically to improve teaching, broaden opportunities for participation and increase the number of pupils who engage in regular physical activity.

Our funding supports:

  • High-quality PE teaching and professional development for staff.
  • Increased participation in competitive and non-competitive sporting events.
  • A wide range of extra-curricular sports clubs and activities.
  • Inclusive opportunities that encourage all pupils to be active.
  • Specialist coaching and enrichment experiences.
  • The development of pupils' physical fitness, wellbeing and healthy lifestyles.
  • Resources and equipment that enhance the delivery of PE across the school.

We are committed to ensuring that every child benefits from the opportunities provided through Sport Premium funding. All pupils have opportunities to represent the school, participate in sporting festivals and competitions, and experience the enjoyment that comes from being active and working as part of a team.

Our strong commitment to PE and school sport has been recognised through our successful participation in local sporting events and competitions. We are proud of the achievements of our pupils and the inclusive sporting culture that exists throughout the school.

Physical activity is embedded within the life of St Richard’s and supports the development of important values such as teamwork, determination, excellence, fairness, resilience and respect. Through sport, we help children develop confidence, leadership skills and a positive attitude towards challenge and achievement.

Please see our published PE and Sport Premium Strategy and Impact Report below for further information about how funding is allocated and the impact it has on outcomes, participation and physical activity across the school.
